Appleton And Company; 1904. ,Joel Chandler Harris (1848-1908), this book contains 26 of his Uncle Remus's stories, with the exception of the tar Baby story, they are all new to this publication of 1904 and cover a variety of humorous subjects from Adam and Eve (De Apple Tree) to Brer Rabbit's Gigglin' Place. The stories were mostly collected directly from the African-American oral storytelling tradition, and were revolutionary in their use of dialect, animal personages, and serialized landscape.
