The 1825 Catalogue which is held in the Hydrographic Office, Ministry of Defence, Taunton, is the earliest known catalogue to have survived. It has now been possible to construct an earlier catalogue based on a manuscript, listing 103 items presented to the British Museum on the 12th November 1814 by Captain Thomas Hurd, Hydrographer to the Admiralty.
