Not in Ferguson. An invaluable document for understanding the economic and social landscape of mid-19th century Australia, particularly New South Wales. St Julian, a journalist and the first Chief Justice of Fiji, compiled a comprehensive snapshot of the colony's industries and natural resources, aiming to attract investment and immigration. From an antiquarian perspective, the book captures both the optimism and colonial ambition of the era, making it both a historical record and a promotional tool of its time. Click here to Order

Foundational text in dietetics and nutrition, marking a pivotal shift in the integration of dietary science into medical practice. Published during a time when nutrition's role in health was underappreciated, it emphasized the importance of proper diet in disease prevention and recovery. Stern bridged the gap between scientific knowledge and practical application, helping to formalize dietetics as a medical profession. Her work also advanced public health by advocating for nutrition education. Today, her principles continue to influence medical treatment, preventive health care, and the professional training of dietitians. Click here to Order

With the assistance of his brothers, he purchased Longerenong station on the Wimmera River, from which beginnings he established a vast pastoral empire. At the time of his donation to the university in 1874, Wilson's income was estimated at 100,000 pound a year and he was reputed to own more sheep than anyone else in the world, with 600,000 head spread across his vast landholdings.
